In a move that should surprise no one President Obama once again put his political career ahead of the best interest of Americans. In a populist move designed to win favor from voters (but raise little in the way of revenue) the President on Monday will propose a tax on people earning more than $1 million per year. (Isn’t this the man who last week implored Congress to pass his jobs bill with “no games” and “no politics”?)
The tax proposal has been dubbed a “Buffett Tax” referring to a comment earlier in the year from Warren Buffett that people like him often pay less in tax than those who work for them. The White House has peppered the discussion with inflammatory language such as “loopholes in the tax code” to distract from the reality that President Obama’s true interest lies not in “growing the pie” but in redistributing it.
