If you have a toothache and head to the dentist your only concern is he or she can resolve your problem…so when you call for an appointment and the receptionist insists you walk to the office instead of driving or taking a bus or whatever you’re thinking, “Why does it matter?”.

If your child wants a PB&J sandwich and throws a fit because you put both on the same slice of bread instead of PB on one slice and jelly on the other you’re thinking, “Why does it matter?”.

If President Obama wants to raise revenue and insists on higher marginal income tax rates you’re thinking, “Why does it matter?”.

Exactly!

As we’ve argued numerous times the best way to raise revenue is to cut tax rates and broaden the tax base.  Revenue is revenue after all.  Yet instead of focusing on raising revenue President Obama is obsessed with the methodology – specifically an increase in marginal income tax rates.

It doesn’t matter how you get to the dentist’s office and it doesn’t matter how you make a PB&J sandwich so why should it matter how revenue is raised?  The answer is because this is not an economic fight but a political one.

The White House doesn’t care about the economy.  For all the talk of “solving the problem in a fair and balanced way” the true goal of our “leadership” is placating those who reelected him by continuing to demonize and punish success.  It doesn’t matter that lower rates will raise more revenue – only that higher rates will appear to raise more revenue.

To paraphrase Dennis Miller we should have no problem with helping the less fortunate but we should have a huge problem with helping the clueless.  He’s your president America.  You bought him.  Enjoy.
