A friend from the accounting world once shared some interesting insight into her profession. In fulfilling the experience requirement to obtain her CPA license she spent time in her company’s auditing department. Upon completing this rotation she surmised, “Auditing is the art of saying a lot without really saying anything.”
If one person’s perspective proves an accurate representation then we’re left to wonder if the author of this article is a former auditor. It smacks of content for the sake of content.
The gist is that advisors and clients are often on a “different page.” That’s all well and good but is this not obvious? Haven’t we learned at this point in our lives that all relationships whether they be a spouse, co-worker, neighbor, etc. are based upon different points of view?
We all come with baggage. We are all victims of our experiences. These things manifest themselves in what we say and do. To suggest this idea as earth shattering is condescending.
In our 24/7/365 media world we need lots of content. Fine, business models are what they are. Can we at least get something useful?
