A common question we hear from our clients is, “How do we teach our kids work ethic and the value of money?” There’s no magic bullet or single perfect solution.

We’ve come across many tips through the years – some silly and some useful. One that was of particular interest is using an ATM to make deposits so our kids can see it isn’t an unlimited source of cash. Many of us use direct deposit so our kids never see the money that goes into the account.

Recently the NY Times weighed in on the topic. Like many articles there’s lots of periphery information but there are also some excellent tips like helping children to resolve their issues and the importance of “social education” to supplement formal, academic education.
